How long does a temporary address last?

10 minutes by default. The countdown starts when the address is created and is always visible next to it. You can extend in 10-minute increments as many times as you like, or discard the address early.

What happens at expiry

The address, its inbox and every message — including attachments — are deleted from the database. There is no archive, no grace period and no recovery. Anything you need (a code, a download link, a file) must be saved before the timer runs out.

Planning around the timer

1. Verification codes arrive in seconds — the default window is usually plenty.
2. Long forms or slow senders: hit “Extend 10 min” before submitting, not after. Extensions stack.
3. Deliverables that arrive later (whitepaper links, webinar replays): keep extending until the mail actually lands, or use a real address — see free trials without the spam.
4. Accounts you'll keep: never rely on a temp address; a future password reset would go to an inbox that no longer exists.

Why not just offer longer lifetimes?

Short lifetimes are the feature: mail that arrives at a long-lived disposable address is mail that can still find you next week. Ten minutes covers the task and then cancels the problem. If you need longer, extending is one click — the address stays alive exactly as long as you keep it alive.
